In an attempt to combat work related road traffic accidents Cambridgeshire County Council have introduced a ?Road Safety: We Mean Business? training course. It's available free to business in Cambridgeshire, and is intended to help local business create suitable road safety policies for themselves and if they implement policies that meet the high standards set by the council the will be awarded with a ?Road Safety: We Mean Business? certificate.
Suprisingly enough the first business in to be awarded such a certificate was a van hire company. "Cambridge Car And Van Rental" are based on newmarket road, and have the usual selection of cars and vans for hire at their Cambridge rental depot.
The advantage of these "road safety seminars" for business is not only are they able to demonstate that they are actong on road safety issues, but can also reflect on matters such as insurance premiums. And given recent legal changes to Corporate Liability in April for manslaughter it can help protect them. The "Road Safety: We Mean Business" seminars are free to all business in the Cambridge and Peterborough areas, see the Council's website for more details.
